Irish Missionaries today are all people of faith, lay and religious inspired by the mission of Jesus to live and work with communities throughout the world, but especially in Africa, Asia, Latin America and to those in the greatest need. As missionaries we respond to the basic needs of people and help to create a more compassionate world, a world transformed by the love of God.

In Ireland today there are many organisations, religious congregations and missionary societies involved in offering various opportunities of being in mission, through a lifetime commitment and/or a long or short term missionary opportunity.

What could I do overseas?
Some of the works of Irish Missionaries include, but are not limited to:

  • civil and human rights,
  • economic development,
  • education,
  • environmental development,
  • healthcare,
  • pastoral ministry,
  • community organizing.

Where could I serve?
Most countries of the world but especially in Africa, Asia and Latin America
